Hear People's Opinions

If people treat you haughtily or condescendingly, don’t react. Be polite but distant in your behavior toward them.

Let them see that, whatever opinion they hold of you, they have your respect and good will but not your deference.

Never court anyone’s good opinion, but hear people’s opinions impersonally, deferring to wisdom, but never to ignorance.

- Swami Kriyananda

Path of Awesomeness

Everything is energy, so whatever energy you entertain, hold, and grow in your body and mind will show up later on in your life. Why? Because you attracted it with your energy! So do you want a more prosperous, joyous, and peaceful life? Do you want more fun? What else do you want? If you hold and grow those energies that you want in your ideal life, then you are now on a path, a path of awesomeness if you will, that will create your dreams!

Belief/Believing

Is a belief a perception of the five senses or is it a perception of emotional feeling? Is it better to say "I sense" and/or "I feel"? Is it better to say " I know" than "I believe"? Is belief based on experience or on a idea? My thinking is that belief/believing is a very missed used word.

Opinion

Having a personal opinion is great. Believing that one’s personal opinion is absolute truth leads to most of the world’s troubles.

Nickelback If Today Was Your Last Day Lyrics

Why Worry

There are only two things to worry about:
Either you are well or you are sick.
If you are well, there's nothing to worry about.
But if you are sick,
There are only two things to worry about:
Either you get well, or you die.
If you get well, there's nothing to worry about.
But if you die, there are only two things to worry about:
Either you will go to Heaver or Hell.
If you go to Heaven, there's nothing to worry about.
But if you go to Hell
You'll be so busy shaking hands with friends
You won't have time to worry.

Motivation

Motivation is the characteristic that helps you achieve your goal. It is the drive that pushes you to work hard and reach whatever it is that you are after. It is the energy that gives you the strength to get up and keep going - even when things are not going your way.

Unfortunately, we cannot buy motivation - it is not something that is bottled up and sold in shops. The good news though is that we can all cultivate this 'motivation'. The only thing we need though is a desire to change. We then need to work on ourselves, conquer our fears and push ourselves forward to reach our desired destination.

Till the End of Time

It don’t matter what happened in the past
Because what we have, it’s gonna last

You make me smile
Your worth my while

You let me know how you feel
Which lets me know you’re the real deal

You let me see, what you mean to me
Without you, who knows where I’d be?

When I’m not with you, I feel blue
Whoever knew, our love would be true?

When I think of you
There’s no other clue
How much I care for you

In so little time, I made you mine
And we’re gonna last, til the end of time!!

Faith

Faith, which at first glance may appear weak, is actually the most powerful force in the world. Many people put on a show of being strong, but true strength has nothing to do with appearances. On the contrary, we usually find that the weaker the individual, the greater their bravado or outward display of strength.

Gratitude

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Nothing can match the strength of those whose lives have been shaped and forged through challenging and overcoming hardships. Such people fear nothing. The purpose of our Buddhist practice is to develop such strength and fortitude. To cultivate such an invincible core is in itself a victory. It is also the greatest benefit. Those who can succeed in this endeavor will savor unsurpassed happiness; they can manifest the supreme state of Buddhahood.

Determination

When your determination changes, everything else will begin to move in the direction you desire. The moment you resolve to be victorious, every nerve and fiber in your being will immediately orient itself toward your success. On the other hand, if you think "This is never going to work out," then at that instant every cell in your being will be deflated and give up the fight, and then everything really will move in the direction of failure.

The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale

The Best of Everything

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Blame is a Waste of Time

All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy.

Being

Your life has an inner purpose and an outer purpose. Inner purpose concerns Being and is primary. Outer purpose concerns doing and it is secondary. Your inner purpose is to awaken. It is as simple as that. You share that purpose with every other person on the planet - because it is the purpose of humanity. Your inner purpose is an essential part of the purpose of the whole, the universe and its emerging intelligence. Your outer purpose can change over time. It varies greatly from person to person. Finding and living in alignment with the inner purpose is the foundation for fulfilling your outer purpose. It is the basis for true success. Without that alignment, you can still achieve certain things through effort, struggle, determination, and sheer hard work or cunning. But there is no joy in such endevor, and it invariably ends in some form of suffering.

Dream Big You will Have it!

As long as we have hope, we have direction, the energy to move, and the map to move by. We have a hundred alternatives, a thousand paths and an infinity of dreams. Hopeful, we are halfway to where we want to go; hopeless, we are lost forever.

Spiritual Networking

Faith

A nurse who cared for many terminal patients has observed, "Ultimately, people only die as they have lived." To die happily is therefore extremely difficult. And since death is the final settlement of accounts for one's life, it is when our true self comes to the fore. We practice faith to live happily and also to die happily. One who has faith in the Mystic Law will not die an unhappy death.

Giving of yourself, even if it is simply sending someone else thoughts of love, hope, and peace is the easiest thing in the world to do. And you will be blessed many times over because it will make you feel so good.

Enlightenment

So the single most vital step on your journey toward enlightenment is this: learn to disidentify from your mind. Every time you create a gap in the stream of mind, the light of your consciousness grows stronger. One day you may catch yourself smiling at the voice in your head, as you would smile at the antics of a child. This means that you no longer take the content of your mind all that seriously, as your sense of self does not depend on it.

- Eckhart Tolle
You must learn day by day, year by year, to broaden your horizon. The more things you love, the more you are interested in, the more you enjoy, the more you are indignant about, the more you have left when anything happens.

Meditate

It’s the easiest thing you can do. True mediation acts like a mind emptier, leaving you open to the whole flow of the sensations and experiences you would otherwise ignore. You don’t even need a complicated technique, meditate as you see fit.

Attention is a Strange Thing

We never look but through a screen of words, explanations and prejudices;
we never listen save through judgements, comparisons and remembrances.
The very naming of the flower, the bird, is a distraction.
The mind is never still to look, to listen.

Cultivate Compassion, Empathy, Light and Love

It's hard to be gentle with ourselves when we are moving at breakneck speed, being bombarded with information overload and multi-tasking. Yet, if we can simplify our lives and savor the present moment just the way it is, we naturally cultivate compassion, empathy, light and love.

Finding someone else to blame for lack of joy is a facade that relives us of responsibility for our thoughts, feelings and emotions. However, we are always responsible for what we are thinking, and our thoughts act like a magnet attracting what we focus on. By taking a gentle approach with ourselves and others, even when our thoughts run astray, we simply cannot be angry at our spouse, our boss, our government or the rain. Spiritual living cultivates that gentleness and awakens us to the joy of living.

Walk the Talk

Avoid Negative People

People who have a negative attitude which may rub off on you are not good for you. If you're timid, loud and aggressive people are probably not good for you, and vice versa. Whatever you do, do not compare yourself to others. Just be the best that you can be.

"A Good Day" With Brother David Steindl-Rast

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

The feeling of hopefulness sometimes comes from someone helping us. Think back to a time when you had lost hope. Many times we regained our optimism because someone gave us a helping hand.

Be A Good Listener

Listening is an essential part of communication, and it is different from hearing. Being a good and patient listener helps you not only solve many problems at work or home, but also to see the world through the eyes of others, thereby opening your understanding and enhancing your capacity for empathy. Besides which, you learn a lot from listening. As deceptively simple as listening to and acknowledging other people may seem, doing it well, particularly when disagreements arise, takes sincere effort and lots of practice.

Get Comfortable with Smiling

Many people are a little nervous about smiling. They don't think their smile looks good, or they think that smiling makes them look unprofessional or vulnerable. It's true that a smile does show a little vulnerability, but that's part of what makes it so powerful. No matter how professional, intelligent, or in control you think a serious face (or worse, a frown) makes you appear, people almost always respond better to a smile.

Affirmations Are Statements

Affirmations are statements that we repeat over and over again whenever we feel down or when doing a task. Once consistently repeated with attention, conviction, interest and desire, these phrases can help you focus your mind, let you take charge, and invalidate pessimistic ideas.

Here are a few affirmations:

• I am healthy and happy
• Wealth is pouring into my life
• I am sailing on the river of wealth
• My body is healthy and functioning in a very good way
• I have a lot of energy
• I can do this!
• I study and comprehend fast
• My mind is calm
• I am calm and relaxed in every situation
• My thoughts are under my control
• I radiate love and happiness
• I am surrounded by love
• I have the perfect job for me
• I have a wonderful and satisfying job
• I can overcome these challenges
• I am successful in whatever I do
• There's no stopping me!
• I am blessed and talented
• I am beautiful and intelligent
• I can be the best that I can be
• I am loved

24 Things To Always Remember and One Thing To Never Forget

Your presence is a present to the world.
You’re unique and one of a kind.
Your Life can be what you want it to be.
Take the days just one at a time.

Count your blessings, not your troubles.
You’ll make it through whatever comes along.
Within you are so many answers.
Understand, have courage, be strong.

Don’t put limits on yourself.
So many dreams are waiting to be realized.
Decisions are too important to leave to chance.
Reach for your peak, your goal, your prize.

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying.
The longer one carries a problem the heavier it gets.
Don’t take things too seriously.
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way.
Remember that a lot … goes forever.
Remember that friendship is a wise investment.
Life’s Treasures are people … together.

Realize that it’s never too late.
Do ordinary thing in an extraordinary way.
Have health and hope and happiness.
Take the time to wish upon a star.

And don’t ever forget…
for even a day … how very special you are.

Accountability

We are accountable only to ourselves for what happens to us in our lives.

- Mildred Newman

Love

Love has no conditions. When we put conditions, when we put barriers and boundaries, then we lose love. Love is condition-less. Love is barrier-less. Look at the moon, sun, stars, trees. . . they are just on for everyone. When our love also flows for everyone, you become very natural.

Do All the Good You Can

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.

- John Wesley

Hopes & Dreams

As a child we are filled with hopes and dreams,
And wishes for magical fairy-tale things.
As we grow older, we sometimes stop wishing
And just blindly accept what each new day brings.

I am here to tell you 'Don't ever stop wishing!'
'Don't ever give up on your childhood dreams!'
Life will always be full of wonderful surprises
Nothing is ever exactly the way that it seems.

Remember to listen to the kid inside your heart and
Never stop looking for ways to make your dreams come true.
Keep on believing the world is a magical place and you will
Find all the wonderful things that are just waiting for you!

Marriage

Determiation and Inner Strength

Hard times build determination and inner strength. Through them we can also come to
appreciate the uselessness of anger. Instead of getting angry, nuture a deep caring and respect for troublemakers because by creating such trying circumstances, they
provide us with invaluable opportunities to practice tolerance and patience.

- Dalai Lama

I’ll Be There

If you have ever had to call a friend in the middle
of the night, to take a sick child to hospital, or
when your car has broken down some miles from
home, you will know how good it feels to hear the
phrase “I’ll be there.” Being there for another
person is one of life’s greatest gift we can give. When we
are truly present for other people, important
things happen to them and us. We are renewed
in love and friendship. We are restored
emotionally and spiritually. Being there is at the
very core of civility.

Happiness

Happiness is not merely a life lived by accumulating moments of pleasure. On the contrary, happiness is a long lasting enduring enjoyment of life, it is being in love with living. It is your reward for achieving a good character and personal rational values in life. Some important values are a productive career, romance, friendship and hobbies.
